David Swanson: Sweat and Steel - Miles City

Sunday, October 03, 2010 - Sunday, November 14, 2010

Inspired by the railroad community and environment in particular the human effort essential to railroading, "Sweat and Steel" represents the men and women in their steely environments who make the railroads run. "Sweat and Steel" puts flesh and bone to the railroad workers who are often over-shadowed by the mechanical beauty of the engines that pull and push immense serpentine tonnages over vast expanses of country. Swanson combines oil paintings, railroad artifacts and railroad music, poetry and literature in a study of the current and historic importance of Montana's railroads. The opening reception is Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
