Montana Wilderness Association Hike - Glendive

This 5-mile round trip hike takes visitors through the rugged badlands topography of Makoshika State Park, providing an up-close view of some of the parks most rugged geological formations. Beginning at the Gunners Ridge Trailhead, hikers will traverse through a valley and climb to a plateau connecting them with Hungry Joe Trail which will take them to one of Makoshikas newest attractions, Lake Inila. The trail is both moderate and strenuous, gaining 200 feet in elevation in a very short distance. Little or no shade is available and daytime temperature can be hot; make sure to have proper hiking gear including a hat, hiking poles/stick, durable shoes, plenty of water, and sunscreen. The trip leaders will make stops along the route to provide rest breaks and share information about the park and its resources and management. Register at:
