Description
What are you waiting for? Off the grid, our cabin offers complete peace and quiet. Surrounded by nature, you can take time to relax and renew. Fully furnished and equipped, the cabin is two story with 3 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, 2 generous decks with mountain and creek views, living room, large dorm/activity room, kitchen, laundry and entry/mud room area. Reserve the entire cabin, or just a cozy room. Visit our website or email us for more details on reservations and rates, mining packages and retreats/classes.
The cabin sits on an island formed by a split in the West Fork of Rock Creek. Sapphire mining was the prevalent activity in this area in the early 1900s and is still a highlight for tourists today. There are a multitude of activities to choose from once you have reserved your home base with us - enjoy hiking, fishing, bicycling, sapphire hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, and more in the Montana outdoors. If you like a little more 'city life', a short drive to the town of Philipsburg offers shopping, restaurants, historical buildings, an old opera house, museum, and for the sweet tooth in all of us, a world class candy store!
Come to our cabin in the woods and get away from it all! During the day, you will enjoy the sight and sound of the creek right off the decks. Lounge for hours, listening to the wind in the trees, and taking in the scent of the warm pines. Or step off, and fish the creek as far as your heart desires. At night, experience the Milky Way as you gaze into a truly dark night sky, filled with millions of stars. There is a reason Montana is called the Treasure State, come and find out why. What are you waiting for?
Directions
Do not use internet map programs, such as Mapquest or Yahoo Maps, they are incorrect.
From Highway 90, take the Drummond/Philipsburg, Highway 1 Pintlar Scenic Highway. Continue on Highway 1 approximately 30 miles to Highway 38, turn right on Highway 38 and continue approximately 18 miles. You will pass a sign for the sapphire mine, and the pavement will end. Do not turn into the mine. Continue 1/2 mile and turn into the next drive on the right, where you will enter through a gate, proceed downhill on the drive toward the creek, cross the bridge, and follow the winding drive to the right to the cabin.
It is also possible to access our location from the opposite end of Skalkaho Highway 38, from Highway 93 in Hamilton. However, Skalkaho Highway 38 is a seasonally closed gravel road, so it is best to call us for information if you intend to use that route.
