Doney Cabin - Deer Lodge

Remotely located, Doney is a favorite of hunters during the rifle and bow seasons. The cabin is also popular during the winter months to snowmobilers, and the summer months to hikers. There is no electricity/water/sewer. Remote location, an hour from emergency services or nearest town. Water in nearby Doney Lake not recommended for swimming or drinking. Doney Lake is used for irrigation reservoir, there are no fish.

The Doney cabin is located approximately fifteen miles from the Gold Creek exit off I-90 between Deer Lodge and Drummond, in southwest Montana. There is an outhouse located near the cabin. There are no housekeeping services, renters are responsible for cleaning the cabin upon departure (sweeping, mopping, clean all surfaces). Cabin is in remote location and can be several hours from nearest town and any emergency services. During a heavy snow year, a snowmobile could be necessary for 15 miles.

Non refundable rental fee is $20.00 per night for up to seven consecutive nights. Call the Ranger District at 406-859-3211 before your arrival.

The Beaverhead National Forest visitor/travel map is necessary to find the route to Doney cabin. The cabin is found NW of Doney Lake, which is used for irrigation purposes. Doney cabin is located 15 miles from the Gold Creek exit.

To help you find your way, here are some landmarks to watch for:

*Approximately 6 miles from I-90, you will come to the first set of powerlines (wooden poles).

*Eight miles from I-90, you will come to power lines (steel tower).

*Ten miles from I-90, you will come to the junction of Roads #302 & #645 take Road #645

*The cabin is five miles on Road #645 after junction.
