Depot Museum - Rudyard

Located in the small, Hi-Line town of Rudyard, MT, the Depot Museum is a hidden gem that brings the history of Central Montana to life. Housed in a restored Great Northern Railway depot, the museum offers an authentic glimpse into rural life, transportation history, and the pioneering spirit that shaped Montana’s northern plains.

The museum’s exhibits showcase local homesteading artifacts, early 20th century tools, photographs, furnishings, and displays on the impact of the railroad and agriculture on the region’s development. Visitors can also learn about the area’s Native American history and view a remarkable fossil collection as part of the Montana Dinosaur Trail, making the museum an educational stop for all ages.

The museum includes outdoor exhibits and is located just 40 miles west of Havre, where visitors will find attractions such as the H. Earl Clack Museum and Havre Beneath the Streets. It’s a perfect stop for travelers interested in Montana’s cultural history, vintage railroads, and fossil discoveries.

Whether you're road-tripping along the Hi-Line, following the Montana Dinosaur Trail, or exploring small-town museums, the Depot Museum in Rudyard delivers a rewarding and authentic historical experience in the heart of Big Sky Country.
