Half Moon Ranch Adventures - Lewistown

Half Moon Ranch Adventures offers Snowy Mountain cabin rentals and group accommodations. Activities include wagon train tours, stream or private lake fishing, hiking, photo trips and wildlife viewing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, snow shoeing and horse drawn sleigh rides.

Not a vacation, a trip back in time. Ride gentle horses and travel by covered wagon to sit in a meadow for a sunny nap and run for cover as you stare into a double rainbow; a rest from hurry; a deep drink of nature; wake with the sun without an alarm. As much or as little as you want to do. Zero pressure. Complete satisfaction.

Half Moon Ranch Adventures brings the first wagon train tours for the summer, extending on into September. The wagon train route includes semi wooded areas, rivers, streams, and majestic Snowy Mountains view. The wagon train tours offers two types of tours: one that offers a quiet time to enjoy the outdoors and the soothing crackling fire in the evenings, the other is a more custom tour which offers entertainment in the evenings such as cowboy poetry and songs. All meals are cooked in the wide open spaces and consumed around the camp fire as did the early pioneers. Sleep in conventional dome tents. Travel either in the wagon or on horseback as an outrider. The wagon trip takes you up high along a mountain side where you can look into the Snowy Mountains and see the height, breadth and grandeur of this natural wonder. Then it drops down into the meadows and follows along fish filled streams and lakes. The camps are situated along these natural recreational areas. For further information call.

The Half Moon Ranch Adventures wagon train trip consists of three days and two nights on the trail. The trip will start on Thursday morning June 24, 2010 and end on Saturday night June 26, 2010. Staging will occur the day before the departure at the Twin Coulee Ranch, approximately 25 miles NNW of Lavina, Montana. There will be accommodations for stock and rigs at the ranch. Rigs will be ferried on to the destination point at this time. The wagon train will then travel approximately 25-30 miles NNW to the Half Moon Ranch in three days, in the Big Snowy Mountains. Local ranchers in the area drive their cattle to summer pastures along the same trail at the same time. It is possible to be on the trail, but not associated with one of these cattle drives. There will be three square meals catered each day along with feed and water for the stock. Wagons will arrive each night in a pre- established camp. Participants will have to provide their own wagons, teams, and sleeping accommodations. At the end of the trip, the wagons will be circled at the Half Moon Ranch with a large BBQ and an old fashion barn dance with live music, 'til the wee hours of the morning.

Here is a chance to experience the wide open spaces of the prairie and move on into the mountains on a gradual grade to 5,500 feet altitude with the chance to observe antelope, deer, elk, wild turkey, and bear. We will be camping on the prairie and in high mountain meadows. All of the above is included for a fee of $400 per wagon and 2 people, and $200.00 for each extra person associated with the wagon.
