Day Horse Rides

If you have very limited time you can still take an exciting 2 to 4 hour horseback ride. Our knowledgeable staff will guide you through the extraordinary high country just north of Yellowstone National Park outside Gardiner, Montana. Day Backcountry Fishing

For the angler who wants to fish the high country lakes and streams but whose time or patience for overnight camping is limited we have your back! Our guides can ride you in just for the day to a variety of backcountry lakes and streams. You can determine which lakes and streams based on how much time you want to spend in the saddle.

Grizzly Bear/ Wolf Photo Safari

For the extreme adventurer we offer a 'hunting experience' without firearms. Our guides are very familiar with grizzly bear and wolf habitats within walking or riding distance of our backcountry camps. If you're looking for a unique experience this is definitely it.

Digital Photo Workshop

Taking photos of a Montana adventure is as much a part of these trips as anything else. ABO now offers a digital photography workshop conducted by a world-renowned photographer and pioneer of digital outdoor photo-retouching. Early Season Rifle Elk Hunt

ABO operates two permitted wilderness camps with full accommodations. One camp is accessible only by horseback and the other is accessible by 4x4 vehicles. These early season rifle elk hunts are held in the peak of the bugling season. There is no finer hunting experience available.

Greater Yellowstone Area Hunting

ABO proudly offers elk, deer and buffalo hunting along the migration corridor on the Yellowstone National Park boundary. In winter, the elk migrate to their winter range through this area. This is the elk hunter's opportunity of a lifetime for a trophy bull.

Private Land Hunts

For the hunter who prefers a private land hunt, ABO can still offer you a challenging but less difficult terrain first class hunting experience. The headquarters for Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters is located in Big Timber, Montana. Big Timber is easily accessed from Gallatin Field Airport in Bozeman and Logan International Airport in Billings. Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters' backcountry camp, located eight miles north of Yellowstone National Park in the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness, is accessed by a twelve mile horseback ride from Independence. Independence is located at the head of Boulder River fifty-five miles south of Big Timber and accessed by 4X4 vehicles. Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters' operates summer day fishing and horseback riding adventures as well as general season hunting out of Gardiner, Montana. Gardiner is located 54 miles south of Livingston on Highway 89. Gardiner is the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park.
