Description26 Painted Buffalo return to West Yellowstone, corralled on the lawn outside the Union Pacific Hall. Ten new painted calves will join the herd at their unveiling on Saturday. Art show and exhibits at the Union Pacific Dining Lodge.
June 8 - 15: 26 hand painted 3/4 life size painted buffalo cows will come out from winter's quarters and will be corralled for one week on the lawn of the West Yellowstone Museum. They will be joined by a crop of 10, 28-inch calves that have followed the same process as last year's buffalo crop: molding, Styrofoam sculptures, fiberglass statues, artist painting, clear coating and the final unveiling.
June 13 - 15: Expanded Art show featuring northwest regional art at the historic Union Pacific Dining Lodge. Expanded activities to be announced. It is rumored that a bull, 'Henry', will be arriving so artists can paint another collage painting like was done on 'Frances'.
June 14: Unveiling of the new 'painted calves'. The 'calves' will be assigned to their sponsors and the cows will be reassigned to their new sponsors along with other events and entertainment.
June 15: The cows and calves will 'roam' to their new homes. The cows will return to selected locations outside West Yellowstone businesses for the summer, while the calves will be located inside businesses and inside Yellowstone Park.
