Knothead Jamboree-Square Dancing - West Yellowstone

Saturday, September 05, 2009 - Monday, September 07, 2009

The West Yellowstone community hosts this fun filled weekend of square dancing for everyone to enjoy. This is an annual dance festival held Labor Day Weekend for both square dancers and round dancers. There are 6 dance sessions starting at Noon on Saturday and ending at Noon on Monday. Spectators are welcome at all sessions.

Dancers from all over the United States and parts of Canada are expected to help celebrate this 53rd Anniversary of the Knothead Jamboree, where a tradition continues.

Many years ago, anyone that traveled over 100 miles to attend a square dance was considered a 'Knothead.' That tradition has continued and as many as 1,000 dancers have participated in the past at the Knothead Jamboree in a single weekend event. While attendance has dropped somewhat in recent years due to the decline in square dance numbers, the event promoters are seeing a resurgence in square dancing, America's folk dance. They expect to see attendance numbers approaching those of yester-years, especially for the 54th Anniversary. Festival features Mike Seastrom and Jim and Kathie Kline, along with a number of other activities in the West Yellowstone community.

Don't miss this event and get your registrations in early. We will see you in a square!
