From Clovis to Crow - Big Timber

Monday, May 27, 2019 - Monday, September 30, 2019

Crazy Mountain Museum in Big Timber features newly upgraded interpretive panels about the 11,000-year prehistory and ethnohistory of Montana and Sweetgrass County for the 2019 season. New displays will include acknowledgement of the contributions made to Montana archaeology by the father of Montana archaeology, Oscar Lewis, who researched the Hagen site and Pictograph Cave and by George Cremer, Melvillle area rancher-archaeologist. The museum recently acquired Livingston archaeologist Dr. Larry Lahren’s archaeological research materials that he has compiled during the course of his 50-year career, which will be incorporated in the interpretive displays designed by historian and designer Jerry Brekke. The Crazy Mountain Museum is located at 2 South Frontage Road, and is open from Memorial Day to the end of September. Museum hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.Mondays through Saturdays and 1-4:30 p.m. Sundays.
